sen5241b July 22, 2017 Share July 22, 2017 I had no idea the commercial coral farming industry was getting so big. Lost count of mariculture farms in Indonesia. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=S0TEmV8_z9s

newbie2014 July 23, 2017 Share July 23, 2017 Wonder what kind of light they're using? LED, T5 or combo with what kind of bulbs?
WheresTheReef July 23, 2017 Share July 23, 2017 Wonder what kind of light they're using? LED, T5 or combo with what kind of bulbs? It's natural sunlight. They used mostly blue plastic material on the roof and over each frag tank.
zygote2k July 24, 2017 Share July 24, 2017 I wonder what the electric bill is...
Origami July 24, 2017 Share July 24, 2017 I wonder what the electric bill is... "Up above is a corrugated plastic material. Mostly blue.... So, actually, the lighting in these tanks is just natural sunlight." - Dr. Mac. So at least they save on that (which could otherwise be prohibitively expensive). One skimmer, flow and ventillation. I wonder how they do water changes.
sen5241b July 25, 2017 Author Share July 25, 2017 ORA uses a salt water well with high nitrates and low calcium. They do not dose calcium and use glass beads to reduce trates. I can't imagine someone buying everything they need for a marine coral/fish business, like tanks, lights, sumps all off the shelf, with no DIY solutions and, after paying for electric, water purification, salt, etc. and still make a profit.
