Leak in Return Line-Barb Fitting

The barb fitting that connects my vinyl tubing to the pvc of my return has slow leak where the vinyl fits on the barbs. What can I do about this? Can I put silicone or pvc cement on the barbs? Any advice is appreciated.

I'll use zip ties on barbs to tighten up the connection. You can also use a hose clamp, but metal ones rust.

hard pipe that connection and you wont have to worry about barbed fittings, hose clamps, or soft tubing.

Wrap the Barb thick in Teflon tape and slide the hose over it with a hose clamp, if you have to keep the hose barb fitting.
