ReefAddict February 3, 2017 Share February 3, 2017 I recently installed the reactor in my system and it seems like it has to flow extremely slow to make the GFO just tumble gently at the top. The rest of the GFO doesn't move only the top gets agitated slightly. Is this correct? If I turn the flow up any more half the gfo goes to the top and the other half stays at the bottom. GOSKN5 February 3, 2017 Share February 3, 2017 Only the top is supposed to barely tumble... it will grind to dust if much more than that Sent from my SM-G935V using Tapatalk
sethsolomon February 3, 2017 Share February 3, 2017 Sounds like your gfo is clumping together when you turn your flow up. Mine is a lite tumble at max flow through.
ReefAddict February 3, 2017 Author Share February 3, 2017 The top barely tumbles it looks like small moving mountains across the top. I'm just wondering how effective it will be since the output is so low.
harticus5 February 4, 2017 Share February 4, 2017 (edited) I am about to go thru an upgrade on my reactor setup and I am currently using reef octopus reactors....but I will still share. Mine does exactly what you say yours is doing when I have to much gfo in the reactor, or fill the reactor roughly half way....filling up the reactor less and Then there is alot more of an even tumble. So maybe try with less gfo. I do not believe you really have to worry about gfo breaking apart.....itd only carbon where you want, no tumble, with slower flow. Matt LeBaron February 5, 2017 Share February 5, 2017 It may appear that only the top is moving but odds are good it is all moving around. Observe it wit the flow on and then turn he flow off, the GFO will likely settle much lower than when you had he flow going. It is very hard to see movement other than at the top but it should all be moving.
