One fish August 18, 2015 August 18, 2015 Hello wamas. I have two tanks and every once in a while I want to put a snail or hermit from one into the other. Can just use the "catch, run really fast, and drop into the other tank" method or do I need to bag and aclimate it? The temp difference is about 1 or 2 degrees and the salinity might be .002 of a difference between my tanks. I just want to make sure before I hurt any of the snails. Thanks!!
WheresTheReef August 18, 2015 August 18, 2015 I just drop them in. Not too worried about snails and hermits.
One fish August 21, 2015 Author August 21, 2015 So that is just for snails and hermits. Are corals different? Sorry for the dumb questions, still so much to learn! I just bought a frogskin acro from quantum reefs and I plan to dip it in revive and place it in my tank after aclimation.
fishgate August 21, 2015 August 21, 2015 Your small varation in temp and salinity between tanks is not enough to worry about for anything live. Transfer away!
John Ford September 10, 2015 September 10, 2015 For corals I would acclimate. They are delicate and need stable parameters. Your two tanks maybe close to the same but no way are your tanks the same as anyone else's. (I realize I'm a couple weeks too late on your new coral just figured I'd mention it)
