Some of my sps corals turned very pale after switching from a diy led fixture to a 6x24w power module. I assume this was caused due to a light shock?

Your assumption is probably correct.  Did you keep the same light schedule? If you did, I would cut it by half and then ramp it back up over several weeks. 

A 6x24w powermodule is extremely powerful.  Def get a PAR meter to determine where your numbers are at.  I know some people will throw in an actinic bulb to actually lower the overall PAR to the numbers they want.

 

I would start with 2 bulbs then 4 then 6.  I don't think cutting back the photoperiod is enough, but really you want to cut back the overall intensity and ramp that up.

I did keep the same light schedule but the bulbs are 1 year old according to the PO.... Im turning off two bulbs and leaving 4 for the moment.. I also noticed that the alk line for the dosing pump got loose and ALK dropped to 5!!! in just two days.... Could this also play a role in pale corals?
