My Ro/Di system finally gave out on me this past weekend. My RO membrane is exhausted after 2 years of running straight. I am ordering a new system but in the mean time my evaporation is faster than I can keep up. I am losing about 2 to 3 gallons a day in evap and now have 0 water output from my system.

Does anyone know where I can purchase water or anyone who might be willing to help out for maybe say a couple FREE frags :77: I live in Kingstowne, alexandria. I would need about 30-40 gallons of water while the system is being delivered to my house.

I would be greatful if someone could help me out. Thanks

I live in Kingstowne too. I got your back.

I can't supply you with any water, but sounds like you're taken care of. I was wondering if you had tried to backflush your RO membrane? I've heard from some that it does nothing, and from others that it helps immensely.

It's worth a try to see if it helps out. To do it, remove the output from the prefilters and connect it into the output (good water) of your RO module. Disconnect the waste water and the input ends of the RO module and then let it run. You need to run it through your pre-filters as chlorine can damage some membranes. I have done this a few times and usually I run it for a few minutes while shaking it around to dislodge larger particles (not that that actually does anything, but it makes me feel like I'm accomplishing something). After you have done this, put it back together again and run it until it has produced a few gallons of water to remove any new particles that have stuck on the filtered half of the membrane. After you have cleansed it, stick it back on your DI unit if you have one and see what it does.

Thanks Dave, its worth a shot while I am waiting.

What is the typical lifespan of a RO membrane (75gph unit). how many gallons will it produce, etc?

Actually, it's only about 1.5-2 years, so if yours still has life and is doing the job, you got your money's worth. Of course, this is based on usage, but I'm not sure there's a "life time gallons" rating.

I have plenty of water made up, will not cost you anything just bring some containers and let me know when you want to come.

I've got a spare 100 gpd RO/DI setup you can borrow. Just hook it up to your water line. let me know if you need it.

Three Options.

1) Marine Scene sells RO water, take your containers.

2) You can buy distilled water at the grocery store for top off purpose.

3) I have 25G of RO/DI water I can spare some, need to bring your containers.

Thanks again for the overwelming support! Thanks BeltwayBandit for the water last night. Rob (neon) sending pm now. Thanks Jake for offering your water! :77:

I'm assuming you got *most* of it home?  How did the press-n-seal wrap stuff do?

The press-n-seal stuff is just as good as the tops. Not a drop was left in the trunk!!

Cool, that is handy to know. FYI for anyone else reading this, we didn't have lids for all the 5 gal buckets so I used Glad press-n-seal wrap to cover the tops. It was a little tricky getting it to stick, but it seems to have eliminated spills from sloshing.
