Scott_LM October 19, 2013 October 19, 2013 Even with the one way valve find some way to have the airline stand straight up or as a last resort tape it to the collection cup. You don't want the end of that line to be below the water line on the outside of the tank. This is asking for some wet carpet and angry wife.
Joshifer October 19, 2013 Author October 19, 2013 I have this feeling that your talking about the air silencer. It's not a float, but a device that softens the noise from air sucking into the tube. There's normally a place on the skimmer that it sits or plugs onto. It should remain out of the water and the air line should not have kinks in it. Yes that thing. There's no slot for it. It doesn't connect or sit anywhere so I left it floating. And like I said before the instructions are horrid.
Origami October 19, 2013 October 19, 2013 I googled "coralife super skimmer 65" and selected "images" to see if I could find a site that had some pictures of the skimmer, the air line, and the silencer. Here's on at Drs Foster & Smith. Hopefully this is what your skimmer looks like. If so, it looks like you should have what looks like a shelf of some sort molded into the gray part of the body at the top of the clear tube (the reaction chamber).
Joshifer October 19, 2013 Author October 19, 2013 The picture on the cover of this pdf document is better. I googled also thanks Tom. Mine doesn't have that little spot on the mount. Nor does it have that foam block. It has a separate mount with a foam block. I thought it went in there and that's how I got water in it. Right now it's dangling in the back of the tank. Gonna try to clip it on with something. Or super glue a suction cup and stick it on
Origami October 19, 2013 October 19, 2013 Don't superglue it unless you really plan on keeping it. I'm surprised that there's not someplace to put the silencer that was provided with the skimmer. Sent from my Rezound on Tachyon 1.1 using Tapatalk
steveoutlaw October 19, 2013 October 19, 2013 My advice would be to return it. You can find a much better skimmer for $200 that the super skimmer. I have read countless threads about people hating them and having a hard time adjusting them. Do yourself a favor and send it back. Then get a skimmer that someone here has used before and can give you an honest opinion on (i.e. not someone saying a skimmer is great and they just happen to have one for sale).

Which I appreciate. Really i do. I love your blunt short answers I Seemed to fix it. The silencer got pushed under water. i pulled it out drained everything and I adjusted the dials I'm getting a nice dry skim so far. I even pulled some water out to see how it handles evap and nothing changed. I have 3 weeks left on the recipt I decided to give it another chance since it was my fault I didn't know where the silencer went and the instructions were vague. I also have the option to go from wet to dry without putting hands inside the tank. It's been over 24 hours and theirs really nasty stuff dried on the bottom theirs no water in the cup just nasty brown chunks. And when I turn the dial I get light green water. It's currently on dry I have a question for you. Do I want it wet or dry? since I can choose. Edited October 19, 2013 by Joshifer
lutz123 October 20, 2013 October 20, 2013 Remember that the more water you pull out the lower your salinity will be if you top off with fresh rodi water. You may have to compensate for that.
