Mattiejay6 August 24, 2013 August 24, 2013 Don't work. Been doing this ever fricking week for 3 months. It's not working. How many tangs do you think I can put in a 14g Biocube? Exotic Reef Creations says they can get Gem tangs, so I was thinking 2, or should I just get 3 or 4 to make sure they eat it all? Your willing to spend 6200 on 2 gem tangs lol for some BA.... And it's only a 14g tank.. Would prolly kill them..
Djplus1 August 24, 2013 Author August 24, 2013 50:50 mix of peroxide and tank water. Remove rock(s) and apply to algae effected area(s). I found it works best to physically remove the BA and then apply the solution to the area. It's like magic, try it. How does that effect corals? I'm gonna go ahead and say there isn't an effected "area", as the algae is EVERYWHERE. I literally need to take a rock out and soak the rock. Is this not advisable I assume?

Orion August 24, 2013 August 24, 2013 I just tried an experiment 2 weeks ago with Bubble Algae and cyano. Once I manually removed the algae I put a layer of Aiptasia-X where the algae was, and let it sit for 20min with no pumps running. So far either algae has not returned to the same area. I am sure kalk paste would work just as well.
Cliff Puckstable August 24, 2013 August 24, 2013 I use this as a dip on my new coral. I think BA is just as bad as red bugs or AEFW IMO. Sps don't like it but I've never lost one from a dip in peroxide. I would use a weaker mix for sps. I never done a full tank treatment. I wouldn't recommend it unless you can do a huge water change right after.

Do you think I can make this miracle dip up in a big rubbermaid, scrape the rocks and let them sit in the "mix" for a while (how long?)
Cliff Puckstable August 24, 2013 August 24, 2013 Honestly they don't need to be in the solution that long. I bet 1 minute is plenty long. What I did was take the rock out, dunk old toothbrush in mix and then scrub the rock.
Orion August 27, 2013 August 27, 2013 Cyano is starting to creep up again in my tank. Considering a 2-3 day blackout period. I am guessing the fish do not get fed during this time? What about fuge lighting for chaeto?
sachabballi reef August 27, 2013 August 27, 2013 I feed my fish during lights out..at least the ones that are out and about Sent from my DROID RAZR using Tapatalk 4
