quazi October 14, 2005 October 14, 2005 Well, my newly moved 55 gal tank sprung a slow leak. :bigcry: I came home from out of the country to discover a wet floor around the tank. Of course, now I have to move it again (this time into my basement) and buy a new 55 gal tank just to transfer my tank. So, my Saturday is now tank move day! I will setup an new tank in my living room once I have determined the damage from the leak on my floor. Anyone have a 120 or so tank setup to sell?? Anyone know a good plumber? I need to setup a laundry tub and my RO filter in my basement. Anyone in the Sterling area have a few hours to kill tomorrow? Wanna help me move the tank? Mike

Guest jamjam_77 October 14, 2005 October 14, 2005 Sorry to hear your sad news. I can help out too Quazi let me now what time.
steveoutlaw October 14, 2005 October 14, 2005 Mike- I have a 40g breeder you can use temporarily until you get your 120g. it's not drilled but I'm sure we could find an overflow box to help you on your way. Let me know. Steve
HowardofNOVA October 14, 2005 October 14, 2005 Quazi, Go to Target or so and grab a plastic storage container, say 30+ gallon size for temporary until you can get the setup finished tomorrow. I have family coming in any minute and will not be able to help on this move, sorry. While your at it, might want to get 2. Just put in a powerhead and will do fine over a day or two. Won't need to worry about lighting, just keep the water moving. Howard
Caribbean Jake October 14, 2005 October 14, 2005 Lowes down the street from you has containers at good prices. Now remember to rinse the container before using it. Also Mike I have a 55 gallon drum, that you can borrow if necessary. It is a blue big trash container that I only use for saltwater emergency. You can borrow it but I need it back once you are done.
Jon Lazar October 14, 2005 October 14, 2005 One of those plastic kiddie pools would work great too. Plenty of room to spread things out without having to stack all your rocks and corals on top of one another.
Caribbean Jake October 14, 2005 October 14, 2005 Mike the blue drum, 55 gallon is still available. LMK if you are coming to pick it up. When?
quazi October 15, 2005 Author October 15, 2005 All, Thanks for all the kind words and offers. Here is the deal: I bought a 55 gal tank @ Wally's today. Good deal @ $88 for a perfecto. That is the same brand I bought 30 years ago. Of course it is not the same company any more. Incidentally, they have 75 gal tanks @ $99. A very good deal, I think. I was going to buy one, but it means stand and building a top. Not a good investment since I really want @ least a 120. Larry Genier will be over @ 11:00. Rene and Jean Marie, please come over if you have time. Please bring a bucket or 2 with you. I bought 2 more large tubs @ HD and I have a 44 gal NSF garbage can on wheels. So, I am good on getting stuff into holding buckets. I plan to save all the water, put the corals and rock in the tubs, and move the stand and top to the basement. Then setup the new tank down there. Not great, but it will allow me time to assess the damage to the living room floor, repair it, and get a new tank. This is as elegant a solution as I can devise at this point. Shou-fu, I will PM you with my address. I may not need much more help with Rene and Jean Marie. However, if you want to come over and be a part of the tank moving party, come on down. The beer and dogs are on me! Craig - I have seen your 120 and consider it sold. Let me know what you what for it. It is EXACTLY what I am looking for. YOU are the MAN! :77: The timing is good for me. The only hold up might be the floor and our adoption of our two new kids (5 YO girl and a 6 yo boy from Guatemala). However, I will buy it and move it when it is ready. Everyone else - THANKS for your support. This is exactly what this club is about! I hope I can return the kindness. :2thumbsup: Mike

quazi October 15, 2005 Author October 15, 2005 Well, the tank is moved, and it looks like the tank did NOT leak. It looks like an overflow problem. That is OK, now I have to get a larger tank for the living room :P Special thanks to Shuo-fu, Jean Marie, Rene and Larry Genier! You guys are top dogs! I STILL have Monti Cap frags for anyone who wants one. My tank looks great. Everything is opening up. More later!
steveoutlaw October 15, 2005 October 15, 2005 Mike, Glad to hear things are looking up. Let us know if there is anything else we can do for you. If you need a torch frag or some ultra green zoos let me know and I'll hook you up with a frag or 2. Steve
quazi October 15, 2005 Author October 15, 2005 Steve, When I get my new tank, I will take you up on that! However, I have 120 gal of stuff in a 55 tank right now.
JMsAquarium October 16, 2005 October 16, 2005 Mike, It was a real pleasure seein g you again. Your lovely wife and you are wonderful hosts, as always :77: Shuo-fu and Rene, It was great to meet you Larry, it was great seeing you again

Larry Grenier October 18, 2005 October 18, 2005 Yea, it was nice seeing everyone. Fun & great discussions. Ever see where all those clowns fit into a little car or the bunch of teens in a phone booth... Mike's tank
quazi October 19, 2005 Author October 19, 2005 After 48 hours, no leak in the old 55. So it WAS an "overflow event". Oh well, now I have a sump for the next tank, or I will sell it for a sump. It is a heavy tank with no center brace. I would rather put up with the scratches than worry about the thin glass. Anyway, Craig's 120 is BEGGING to come to my house. Negotiations are us. :brood:
