kjamaya March 18, 2013 March 18, 2013 I've always used regular powerheads for my ATO system with great success but why do most hobbyist use Toms aqualifters?
Cliff Puckstable March 18, 2013 March 18, 2013 powerheads add larger amounts of water at a much faster rate than a tom's.
flooddc March 18, 2013 March 18, 2013 (edited) powerheads add larger amounts of water at a much faster rate than a tom's. Right on! possibly uses more power to run too. Edited March 18, 2013 by flooddc
Origami March 18, 2013 March 18, 2013 I've used both and tended to use a maxijet powerhead before I switched to a peristaltic pump. Fitted with a quick connect adapter and 1/4" air tubing, the flow rate was never high enough to be a problem and the pump tended to last longer than an aqualifter.
