polyp extension

im looking at my monti-caps. why does everone else have very little polyps and i have gi-normous polyps? i dont understand is it something im overlooking? tanks params are norm as far as i can tell unless po4 is out of wack or locked up in macro and cyano.

Gary,

Don't know- Maybe the stock you have is slightly different. Also some, such as the green encrusting/plating monti have larger polyps that the capricornias. But also might be compensating with capture - IE if you feed phyto or golden pearls ect and or they may be gettting a bit less light. These are all speculations. As long as they are opening and showing growth and color I would not complain. :D

these are all frags from everyone else that has small polyps. i do feed phyto infrequently, but i fee cora chow. i have 1k MH and about 2000gph flow. so i amnot sure. the polyps are large enough to not see the plate of the skeleton. ill try to post a pick tonight.

Are you sure it is a Monti Cap? It looks... different from mine.

it looked like any monti cap befor it got into my tank. its a frag from mike henley(ousnakebite)

That's interesting. My orange caps have really small polyps. Never seen anything quite like that on a cap before.

ok got off of my lazy but and retested the water chem. magnesium os round 1000 wich is a little low. retested PO4 and on the low scale is 1.0. i might need to change my DI stuff.

 

i will try to get a better pic.
