onux20 February 22, 2013 February 22, 2013 It started out last week. I found one nerite snail on the carpet. I thought it was odd. The next day same thing. Then this week, I found two, then four. I toss them back in and they seem no worse for wear. Any idea of why they are starting to roam? Alk was a little off this week but that is it. Acros are doing fine with no obvious signs of stress. So I think my params are in order. Any thoughts on my nomadic nerites?
trockafella February 22, 2013 February 22, 2013 (edited) NO clue why, but as a rimless tank owner I find snails on the floor and front of the glass all the time.. Thankfully my dog doesnt like them. Edited February 22, 2013 by trockafella

Oprah Wrangler February 22, 2013 February 22, 2013 I put my nerite snails in my wet/dry filter (soon to be sump). I don't know how much this mimics a tidal lifestyle but it gives them the chance to roam between environments of different moisture. They are always on the move.
Orion February 22, 2013 February 22, 2013 Nerites I purchased from House of Tropicals always got out of my tank. The ones I purchased at Aquarium One however.. have stayed, and never have tried to leave the tank. Not sure what it is about the nerites at Aquarium One.
miggs76 February 22, 2013 February 22, 2013 I used to find them on my desk when I had them in a nano. I have one in my big tank that has been alive for well over a year now. He can't escape the screen over my rimless.
onux20 February 22, 2013 Author February 22, 2013 Thanks for the comments. Did not know they were not 100% suitable for the reef environment.
