My lemon chromis threw up about 5 times. He threw up a lot, too. Do fish throw up? He's always clearing off the branches of one of my gorgonias to make room for the female to lay her eggs. Maybe it's finally caught up to him? It's the strangest thing I've seen yet.

I have never seen this in the 10 years I've had tanks...but I'm sure there's a lot I haven't seen...

I've seen strip things like your talking about and spit it out....maybe he accidentally swallowed some...like when my husband started the siphon for my first tank change, lol made him throw up pretty violently too....

Jan, too funny. I know you make great stuff, can't wait to try your blends. But I couldn't help laughing out loud seeing someone who makes food asking why her fishies are puking. Instant visions of evil plankton at the Chumbucket. Too funny. But I do hope it's okay and nothing serious.

It is funny. I hope it isn't food poisoning ;) . That would suck. None of the other fish are throwing up. I'm sure its because he's a neurotic about clearing off the gorgonia and maybe ate too much slime.

He's stupid because the eggs the female lays don't stick to the gorgonia for more than a day or two. They drop off from the slime or the female rips them off. They typically lay their eggs on acropora. He's an idiot this fish!!

I'm sure it isn't anything too serious. It was just weird. I was looking at the tank and all of a sudden all the fish started eating white stuff. I thought something pooped. Then I saw it throw up. I was like "What the??" I called my husband and asked him if the fish was throwing then it did it again.....ugh. Fish are disgusting!

Neither have I. That's what I was thinking too; he ate some of the stuff. Idiot fish!

OMG, poor hubby. He swallowed fish poop water, LOL!!! Poor guy.

I did not know they could do that, but upon thinking about it... why not?

Poor fish...

I have had eels and groupers do that when stressed. Digesting food requires energy and can slow them down so when stressed they expel it. An empty stomach allows for a better fight or flight response.

Wow, that makes a lot of sense.... counts for humans too I am assuming.

Yep, overeating lowers your immune response. Feed a cold is not a bad motto, but soups and salads, not pizza.
