bcjm February 9, 2013 February 9, 2013 I have a calcium reactor second chamber from MRC but the top leaks due to old o-ring. I have a hard time finding anyone from MRC to get a replacement. It is about 6" OD but very thin kind. Does anyone know a local source I can go and find a match or can I use something else other than the o-ring to seal the top?
surf&turf February 9, 2013 February 9, 2013 Take it to an automotive parts store, they can probably match it.
sachabballi reef February 9, 2013 February 9, 2013 +1 for this....i have always found all my O rings at auto stores whether for tank or photo etc....they have books they can pull out to match them....
mr.x-ray February 9, 2013 February 9, 2013 I used a thin rubberband on my skimmer cup. Its been going good for about 3 months now.
STEVE February 9, 2013 February 9, 2013 Call Jeremy at Sea Atlanta, in Georgia, 770-813-3207 he is the "contact" for MRC. He is the biggest dist of parts for MRC. He will take care of you. Tell him Steve Stewart gave you his number...I just spoke to him.
overklok February 10, 2013 February 10, 2013 Ask Dan or Justin at Avast Marine, they should have some in stock.
fry_school101 February 10, 2013 February 10, 2013 (edited) I'm pretty sure they use a standard pool type o-ring. I have an MRC skimmer with about the same size ring. Google popped up this site and they have a number of 6" o-rings. http://usapoolpros.c...it=all&q=O-ring You might try a pool place. Edited February 10, 2013 by fry_school101
ctenophore February 10, 2013 February 10, 2013 mcmaster.com will have it. Just measure it carefully (better yet, measure the groove on the reactor) http://www.mcmaster.com/#o-rings/=lesj6s
STEVE February 10, 2013 February 10, 2013 .........you can shop around everwhere OR, you could just call Jeremy at Sea Atlanta like I said....your choice.
bcjm February 10, 2013 Author February 10, 2013 Thank you Steve and everyone. I will follow up with Sea Atlanta first.
