Curtis Scott December 10, 2012 December 10, 2012 I've been reading a lot today about Chloramine in tap water and noticed on the Fairfax County Water website that they do use them in our tap water. After speaking with someone at BRS, I am considering add another chamber to my RO/DI unit to have the following setup... sediment filter, catalytic carbon, chlorplus, membrane, di Does anyone here use a Catalytic Activated Carbon Filter along with ChlorPlus Filter to help eliminate this issue? What are some pros and cons, or anything else I should consider doing before making this upgrade?
Jan December 10, 2012 December 10, 2012 (edited) I do. I live in FFX county and noticed ammonia in my water last November/December. FFX uses one of the highest amounts of cloramine especially after storms so I decided to add AWI carbon cartridge in place of one of the micron filters. It works just fine. davelin315 December 10, 2012 December 10, 2012 I use a cac cartridge to break the chloramine bond as well. This allows it to be filtered out.
Curtis Scott December 11, 2012 Author December 11, 2012 Thanks Jan and Dave. I've decided to purchase the upgrades for my RO/DI unit!
Der ABT December 11, 2012 December 11, 2012 just make sure you flush it some before you put it in line just like carbon for the tank....ive used it and saw my bad algae cut WAY down
AlanM December 11, 2012 December 11, 2012 WSSC says that it adds chlorine, not chloramine. I hadn't bought a chloramine removal stage for my new RO/DI because of this. Think one is necessary anyway?
