Ghazanfar Ghori August 26, 2005 August 26, 2005 So a frag dipped in extra saline water won't have the same effect right?
Caribbean Jake August 27, 2005 August 27, 2005 Howard I read the article but is not clear what they are doing. Are they raising the salinity SPG in the water? Do they say what gravity they keep it at? Jacob
emissary August 27, 2005 August 27, 2005 Yeah I had a hard time figuring out what they were talking about too. This is the first time I've seen the phrase "coral stem cells" ... and as much salt as you'd find on a margherita glass? So what they're going maybe to 1.028? 1.029? I mean... I thought seawater was close to 1.025? But I'd read recently that it was more like 1.028. I suppose it depends on where you are...
Grav August 28, 2005 August 28, 2005 Interesting research... on the part of the researchers, not on the part of the reporter. 3 kinds of coral: Hard, soft and leather.
HowardofNOVA August 28, 2005 Author August 28, 2005 Hey, I said it was interesting reading, didn't say it made any sense!
Ghazanfar Ghori August 29, 2005 August 29, 2005 It probably won't work but what the heck... I'll cut two fresh frags of similar size, dip one in extra saline water and then put them next to each other to grow them out and see what the heck happens.
dbartco August 29, 2005 August 29, 2005 http://www.reefcentral.com/forums/showthre...rticle+aquarium I sent a request to SEASL to see if they had more info, and they say it is bogus info. One post said most of this was dead by now. Form your own opinions I guess
