What are the current theories regarding the disappearance of the bubbles of BTAs?

My gbta has fantastic bubbles, but it's parent (which split this one off) apparently does not show bubbles. We are trying to figure out what the difference is, which is hard because our tanks are totally different.

My too. Used to have lot of bubble tips. But since they split, only see bubbles once a while. IMO, I think it is all related to the lighting. It will have more bubbles if it has sufficient light. if not enough light, they have to extend their tentacles and therefore no bubble.

i am sure it is related to lighting -- MH lighting has forced my RBTAs to not have bubbles but based on what i have seen elsewhere - they will come back under t5's

I got my anemone from Gary W. , who still has the parent in the tank with LED lights. I have T-5 lights with a center actinic LED strip. Neither anemone had bubbles in his tank, but the one I took home has had bubbles since I brought it home, so we are talking about an immediate change. He relies on his clowns to give food to his anemones, while I manually feed mine chunks of frozen blend about 4 or 5 days a week. It might be the lights, it might be the food, it might be the chemistry or whatever.

My green tip anemone just split yesterday. When I first got it, it do not have any bubbles. But I just notice today that they are all bubbling up!ohmy.gif. So I guessed who's know exactly what's really going with these mems bubbleswacko.gif.

Another observation, I have a RBTA that will half bubble/half extend. The side that bubbles is the only side that is pressed against the rocks when it opens up. So not sure if it rubbing up against the rock all day has anything to do with it or not. Lighting (LEDs) and flow is the same across the whole nem.

This one has had bubbles since I added it to the tank, the green one I had before it never bubbled.
