surf&turf June 23, 2012 June 23, 2012 Because I went bigger with a 90 gallon instead of a 55. I don't think they would work as well with a deeper setup, course LEDS may not either.
surf&turf June 23, 2012 June 23, 2012 There are several other things like water flow, temp, and type of coral, not just water quality. Water quality staying the same, if I put a 5k bulb on one side and 20k bulb on the other the 5K side will grow faster but have less color and the 20kk side will grow slower with more colors. The coral moves the zooxanthellae around under the tissue either in front of or behind the corals natural pigments to adapt to light so I think lighting plays a roll in color. I'm not saying that lighting doesn't play a role in the color of a coral, I just think to much emphasis is put on lighting, be it MH, T-5, or LED.
