Ryan S June 3, 2012 June 3, 2012 i have a maxi jet feeding my MR5 reactors. i have some 1/2" ID tubing i got from home depot plugged on to the maxi jet, but it doesnt stay on very strongly, and comes off from time to time. i tried using a plastic pull clamp to tighten it, but it doesnt work very well. would a 1/2" version of this, work better? and keep the tubing securely connected to the MJ?
Quantum Reefs June 3, 2012 June 3, 2012 I use zip ties to secure the tubing. Works great and holds tightly
Ryan S June 3, 2012 Author June 3, 2012 thats what i have now but doesnt hold it on tightly. the tube is slippery and just slides off basically. the next time you come over, you can take a look. maybe i need a different hose or something.
Quantum Reefs June 3, 2012 June 3, 2012 Don't tighten when it's already on the nozzle since it won't be able to tighten all the way. the trick is to secure the zip tie to the the tube a tad bit smaller than the nozzle, than force it on the nozzle afterwards. I've been able to secure a tubing almost a quarter in larger by doing it this way

rioreef June 4, 2012 June 4, 2012 The 1/2 version of the Murlock fitting will work from BRS. This is what I have on my MJ feeding a media reactor. Tubing I use is from BRS 1/2 murlok polyethylene ro tubing
hypertech June 4, 2012 June 4, 2012 (edited) They sell 1/2" and the tubing that fits it. http://www.bulkreefsupply.com/store/products/reverse-osmosis-filters-and-systems/ro-plumbing-fittings/1-2-reverse-osmosis-fittings Edited June 4, 2012 by hypertech
Ryan S June 4, 2012 Author June 4, 2012 yup this is it: http://www.bulkreefsupply.com/store/products/reverse-osmosis-filters-and-systems/ro-plumbing-fittings/1-2-reverse-osmosis-fittings/union-1-2-x-1-2-push-connect-murlok.html what i was after. though tom's DIY version looks fun!
Origami June 5, 2012 June 5, 2012 You may just find that a 1/2 quick connect fitting from Lowe's will do the job, too....
