Origami May 17, 2012 May 17, 2012 HeneryH, a hobbyist that developed Android applications to monitor and control Neptune AC-III and Apex controllers, recently pulled his applications, Apex and AquaNotes, from the Android Market (now Google Play) because he has little time to develop or support the applications. Consequently, you won't find it if you were to go to the Market and search for either. Some people, however, would still like to download one or both of the applications (AquaNotes requires Apex firmware version 4.06 or better to work). If you scan the applicable QR Code image using an application like "Barcode Scanner" (from the Market), it will take you to the otherwise unreachable link where you can download and install the application. Here are the images: For Apex: For AquaNotes: HeneryH had a (short) support thread going here: http://web2.reefcentral.com/forums/showthread.php?t=2152128 and here: http://web2.reefcentral.com/forums/showthread.php?t=2092209&highlight=android and here: http://web2.reefcentral.com/forums/showthread.php?t=2095886&highlight=android EDIT: I've added the .apk files in a post below if you want to install the app directly to your phone.
Ryan S May 17, 2012 May 17, 2012 I use his program on my android phone. I love it. Sad to see it won't have any more updates moving forward.
Origami May 17, 2012 Author May 17, 2012 I backup my apps using Titanium Backup. You may want to do something similar, because if something goes wrong, you won't be able to replace them through the market using normal channels anymore. I don't know how long the detached market apps will continue to be accessible via QR Codes, but I just checked them and they work, so get them now if you don't have them already.
bcoop78 May 17, 2012 May 17, 2012 How crazy that you mention this today, I just discovered his stuff on RC this AM, and used his guide to setup a Dyndns account to access my Apex from my iPhone reliably for the long term! Smart dude this Henry fellow...

Smart dude this Henry fellow... www.reefchat.org is where you can use the same dyndns account to make a signature like mine below (all free) as well.
Origami May 17, 2012 Author May 17, 2012 I just tried the links and they didn't work for me. Rats! Ron, did you try using the Android app, "Barcode Reader?" Search for it in the Market, then use your camera to capture the QR Code. If you still can't get it, I may be able to extract and send you the .apk file to install on your phone.
Integral9 May 17, 2012 May 17, 2012 I think you'll need a "rooted" phone to install the app outside of the store.
Origami May 17, 2012 Author May 17, 2012 I think you'll need a "rooted" phone to install the app outside of the store. No. There's a setting that allows you to install outside of the Market. In Android ICS, it's SETTINGS > SECURITY > UNKNOWN SOURCES In any case, the QR Code takes you to the market. At least, it does on my phone (I just tried again a couple of minutes ago.)
schudini May 17, 2012 May 17, 2012 Thanks for this topic and the links. I use the Apex app and it works great, but I guess I will have to back it up now if it's no longer available.
Origami May 17, 2012 Author May 17, 2012 I'm attaching both the Apex and Aquanotes .apk files. I had to zip them in order to attach them here. You need to unzip them before transferring them to your phone. Google "How to install apk" and you'll find numerous guides on how to get the application loaded on your phone. Apex_ 1.9.7.apk.zip AquaNotes_0.34.apk.zip

Yep, used the barcode reader and it opened the browser window then redirected to google play that told me that the app was no longer available. I also tried it by going directly to the app page via the link you posted on rc and it didn't work there either. I'll try the files you posted - thanks!

I wonder if it's because I've downloaded them in the past? Anyways, try the APK and let me know how it works. If anyone else gives the QR Code a try, please let me know if you run into difficulty, too. I may just have to rely on sharing this via the apk files.
