Selbo April 6, 2012 April 6, 2012 I got a good deal on an old tank which just needed a little TLC to make it sparkle again. I
extreme_tooth_decay April 6, 2012 April 6, 2012 If it were me... I would probably just fill it up as Chad suggested. You probably won't be able to see it. If you are the kind of guy who hates knowing it is there, even if you can't see it (I get that way myself), and you have tried all other options, I wonder if a polishing kit meant to take tiny scratches out of glass (cerium oxide) might work? Maybe something like this: LINK
londonloco April 6, 2012 April 6, 2012 I've never tried it, but have read the "Original Mr. Clean Magic Eraser" works also.
mogurnda April 6, 2012 April 6, 2012 Sounds like maybe the glass is etched. Nothing will remove that, aside from a buffer, but you probably won't see it with water in the tank.
Selbo April 6, 2012 Author April 6, 2012 Cerium Oxide is one thing I haven't tried. The Magic Eraser is pretty cheap so I'll give this a shot as well. Thanks for the help. I'm sure the spots will be less noticeable once it's filled but it does bug me. I'll let you know if any of these options work.
londonloco April 6, 2012 April 6, 2012 Just make sure you get the "original" one. Like I said, I've read it works, never used it on any tank. Use it on my kitchen sink tho, takes off all kinds of gunk I never knew was there, and makes it shine like new.
zygote2k April 6, 2012 April 6, 2012 Mac- Ask Jeff Haddock (NAGA) about polishing glass. He's the local expert.
