zoom2zoom February 16, 2012 Share February 16, 2012 I need to order some bulkheads to replace an used tank The drilled hole sizes are 1.75 and 1.5 inches The tank is 57 gal oceanic with center overflow Is marine depot a place to order? Thanks in advanced
Marc Weaver February 16, 2012 Share February 16, 2012 The 1.75" hole is for a 1" bulkhead and the 1.5" hole is for a 3/4" bulkhead. You can order from Marine Depot, but Premium Aquatics and Bulk Reef Supply are closer shipping wise. Also, call around to some local fish stores, they should stock these as they are very common sizes.

zoom2zoom February 16, 2012 Author Share February 16, 2012 Thanks guys for the info. Sorry to ask, so what size I piping should I get.? Is it one inch and 3/4inch pipes? Also, the tank has two outlet coutouts,, so I think I can have a split out to two outlets, does it mattered it comes out one or both?if both, can I use flex tubes from the split? BowieReefer84 February 16, 2012 Share February 16, 2012 For the 3/4" return you could use braided nylon tube and barb fittings if you get threaded bulkheads... http://www.bulkreefsupply.com/store/products/pumps-and-plumbing/plumbing-sumps-drill-bits-overflows-uniseals/braided-nylon-flexible-tube/3-4-braided-nylon-tube.html and http://www.bulkreefsupply.com/store/products/pumps-and-plumbing/plumbing-sumps-drill-bits-overflows-uniseals/schedule-80-plumbing-fittings-and-valves/sch-80-barbed-tube-fittings/3-4-schedule-80-strait-male-insert-fitting.html and http://www.bulkreefsupply.com/store/products/pumps-and-plumbing/plumbing-sumps-drill-bits-overflows-uniseals/bulkhead-tank-adapters/abs-bulkhead-tank-adapters/3-4-abs-bulkhead-thread-x-thread.html Goodluck! zoom2zoom February 16, 2012 Author Share February 16, 2012 thanks! that's the information i need to order as there are so many parts i just dont know exactly what i need to order. so i use the threaded fitting for the nylon tube, can you tell me which 'Y' split i need to order for the outlets? how do you secure the outlet modular piping using nylon tubing? also, for the inlet, if i am using a pipe, i suppose i need to order a non-thread? but which one? there are different types? http://www.bulkreefsupply.com/store/products/pumps-and-plumbing/plumbing-sumps-drill-bits-overflows-uniseals/bulkhead-tank-adapters?p=2 For the 3/4" return you could use braided nylon tube and barb fittings if you get threaded bulkheads... http://www.bulkreefs...nylon-tube.html and http://www.bulkreefs...rt-fitting.html and http://www.bulkreefs...d-x-thread.html Goodluck! Origami February 16, 2012 Share February 16, 2012 John probably stocks all that you'd need at Blue Ribbon Koi (BRK) near Manassas, plus you'd get personalized support to identify all that you'd need to put this together.

Yea, do that! No guessing or extra parts or not enough parts... The stores up in MD don't really carry plumbing supplies... Lucky VA people... I second that if you can. Or you could end up like us that ordered bulkheads from BRS without really thinking about it, only to find out that the sch80 ones don't fit. Glad we had our old ones to use still! So now I have a 1" and 3/4" of these bulkheads just sitting around since I can't use them.
