Hatchling

Hatchling (3/13)

  1. Ok... Toothbrush method tonight. Thanks everyone
  2. i forgot to mention i also bought two large turbo snails at Prestine Aquarium and they dont do anything.. is it a different species? tooth brush is tough as my live rock setup is hard to reach. does hair algae die off in time by itself if i can controll it?
  3. I had hair algae growth in my tank last month, I have since controlled it by cutting down feeding and controlling nitrate to almost zero. It doesn
  4. This my first setup, and this is what i have: http://www.spectrapu.../St_osmo_p1.htm i cant recall the GDP size, can check when i get home i have never done any maintance to this unit, (how do i flush the unit?)
  5. TDS reading on my RODI water currently is at 5ppm, do i need to replace/buy filters? if so, do i need to replace all filters or just DI filter? the filter system is about 3 months old, bought new, with 0ppm when i started. thanks in advanced.
  6. can i dump cups of green water with rotifers into the 2 gal tank that i have setup for the hatching? i am thinking to use one gallon of SW from my DT, than the other gallon of green water. i tried using coffer filter, but in the end, i dont see what ended in the filter, so i dont think that's working so well.
  7. believe me, i tried to look with my naked eye in a clear cup until I realized that my eyes are going out of focus. the white 'dots' are in the water - just floating in water, and they dont move (unless tha water moves). once in awhile, i do see few that 'swims', but only very few. and my water seems to be constant 'greenish', not light brown like others mentioned due to rotifers eating. I am concern that my culture is dead, but my water does not smell. the fry should be hatching tonight or tomorrow night, and since i dont have time to get a scope, I will give it a try, if this batch doesnt work, i will try again.
  8. I started my first batch of rotifers doing the procedures as needed, this is the forth day and I cant tell if the rotifers are alive? When I scoop a cup into clear glass, I see lots white dots, but they only move by the water movement, are you suppose to see them swim in different directions? Once water stops, the white dots just seem to float in mid water and drifts slowly My clown fry will be hatching in the next few days, when it happens, I have a 2 gal tank ready for the fry, but can I dump the rotifers with the green water in the tank? Thanks in advanced
  9. I lost my first batch of clown fry few weeks back, only two surived for 2 days, then they disappeared in the tank. Last night my clown had another batch of eggs, which should hatch in 9-10 days. previously, I had them in a 14 gal nano tank with water and airstone and live rock. This time, i will try and use a 2 gallon tank with only water and airstone. I didnt have live rotifers, i used live small copepods. I just ordered live rotifers and hopefully i can grow them. Not sure if there is anything else i need for preparation before hatching. does anyone know where i can get Clownfishes-Joyce Wilkerson ? didnt realize the book is going for high premium on ebay.
  10. last night the eggs hatched, and i was able to transfer about 50 fry to a 14 gallon nanocube that i had set up using the same water, live rock from the established tank. no filter - only air stone and heater. this morning when i went to check, i was only able to see about 5 are left... which is sad and not exactly sure what happened. i didnt feed them rotifers yet as i was going to get them tonight. not sure what i need to do differently next time.
  11. My LFS only has frozen rotifers. Will this work? As the eggs should be hatching any night now And I didn't have time to order live ones online Or does any member here can sell some live ones and live in northern va?
  12. thanks! that's the information i need to order as there are so many parts i just dont know exactly what i need to order. so i use the threaded fitting for the nylon tube, can you tell me which 'Y' split i need to order for the outlets? how do you secure the outlet modular piping using nylon tubing? also, for the inlet, if i am using a pipe, i suppose i need to order a non-thread? but which one? there are different types? http://www.bulkreefsupply.com/store/products/pumps-and-plumbing/plumbing-sumps-drill-bits-overflows-uniseals/bulkhead-tank-adapters?p=2
  13. Thanks guys for the info. Sorry to ask, so what size I piping should I get.? Is it one inch and 3/4inch pipes? Also, the tank has two outlet coutouts,, so I think I can have a split out to two outlets, does it mattered it comes out one or both?if both, can I use flex tubes from the split?
  14. Should I get live ones or concentrate? Do I need to get supplement to feed rotifers and how long do I need to feed the fry?
  15. I need to order some bulkheads to replace an used tank The drilled hole sizes are 1.75 and 1.5 inches The tank is 57 gal oceanic with center overflow Is marine depot a place to order? Thanks in advanced
