R2R has a bright red 5" haddoni carpet that would look great in my 120 but I'm wondering if I should spend the money for it. My rock-work is basically 3' center-mass structure about 18" high (i.e. there is some bare gravel across the bottom of the tank on the outer perimeter. My lighting is two DIY units with 12 royal blue and 12 cool white each. If I put the haddoni on the bottom, will it likely stay there, and will it get enough light? (They do need "lots" of light, right ???)

Can't comment on the light aspect since I'm not too knowledgeable about LED light output but one thing to consider, and the main reason I didn't pick up the phone and get that anemone (other then the price tag lol) is that haddonis are known fish eaters. They also tend to eat your most expensive or favorite fish. They've even been reported to eat the host clown fish on occasion. It's unfortunate as they are pretty hardy for a carpet and come in awesome colors.

I've kept a haddoni at the bottom of a tank under a 250 MH (20" deep tank) without issue in the remote past.

They need lots of light so if your lights compare to a 250w MH you would be fine. They normally will stay low with the foot down into the sand and not move much if at all once it settles in.

If you have expensive fish then I would caution against it as they are very sticky and have no problem eating a healthy fish that happens to swim into it. You can help prevent that by keeping a night light over the tank so they don't blindly swim into it.

They generally do not like a lot of flow, it has been stated in the literature haddonis like a sand bed, but both of mine are in rock work. They are monsterous fish eaters and like strong light. They can be difficult to handle, if they are being sticky.

no - it was sold before I had actually made a decision .. and I think I'm glad it's gone
