Jan January 10, 2012 January 10, 2012 http://www.reefs.com/blog/2012/01/10/a-new-direction-for-frag-plugs/ Not with the way I tend to drop stuff.
wvreef January 10, 2012 January 10, 2012 I would not mind trying them out...but I bet they r pricey.....
OUsnakebyte January 10, 2012 January 10, 2012 <<<The surface of the plugs is treated to create a specialized surface that apparently improves coral growth and encrustation rates. >>> That's just about as ambiguous as it gets right there... I'll need to see a little more data before I believe this.
GraffitiSpotCorals January 10, 2012 January 10, 2012 I agree, I have a buddy that blows glass I am sure he could make a bunch for a much better price than they sell them. I wonder how much they are... The clear idea of it is defiantly appealing. Maybe I can get him to make some for the meeting.
BowieReefer84 January 10, 2012 January 10, 2012 I bought a 10lb bag of BRS rubble rock. I have frag plugs for years now, and much better looking.
Jan January 10, 2012 Author January 10, 2012 LOL, glad you said it. I think this company makes glass pipes. They look like the piece that goes in a bong... haha
OUsnakebyte January 10, 2012 January 10, 2012 I bought a 10lb bag of BRS rubble rock. I have frag plugs for years now, and much better looking. Exactly. Plus, if the coral doesn't grow over them quickly, then diatoms, CCA and other organisms quickly will, rendering the neat look an algal coverup. I'm lazy enough cleaning the viewing glass on my tank; I can't imagine having to clean 50 glass frag plugs too. Who wants more glass to clean...?
Jan January 10, 2012 Author January 10, 2012 I bet they're dishwasher safe. Just throw them in a basket and let it run.
Jan January 10, 2012 Author January 10, 2012 Oh, Nooo. Oops. I agree that they're a waste of money. With a coral on it...?!?
BowieReefer84 January 10, 2012 January 10, 2012 No Officer, it is a frag plug... That is not residue.... It's um coral tissue...
GraffitiSpotCorals January 10, 2012 January 10, 2012 Yea the colors in the plug are a stretch, and pointless. I don't see how a few glass plugs would make diatoms though. I think the clear ones would be nice, I will get my friend to make me some and see how they work.

GraffitiSpotCorals January 11, 2012 January 11, 2012 Yea he can but that kind of work is more time consuming and more expiensive, I will show him a pic to see how much they would be but I would guess it wouldn't be worth the money.
GraffitiSpotCorals January 11, 2012 January 11, 2012 I am assuming your talking about the last pic with the swirling colors when you say color changing.
GraffitiSpotCorals January 11, 2012 January 11, 2012 Or the other stuff that they used to make pipes out of that would change color after using it for a while, either way sounds like your kidding around.
GraffitiSpotCorals January 11, 2012 January 11, 2012 How is that? As long as there is a surface to glue to you can use them for whatever you want.
