Annap729 December 4, 2011 December 4, 2011 Any input on which one of these are better? I am about to pick up a couple and am wondering what everyone thinks.
surf&turf December 4, 2011 December 4, 2011 I have a 2 little fishes on my 90 that works great. I have never used BRS reactors.
F&Fmgr December 4, 2011 December 4, 2011 both of them clog very quickly IME. I would go with an Avast reactor. See here
hypertech December 4, 2011 December 4, 2011 For what? BRS reactors are basically a filter housing with a bigger pipe to connect to a pump. They work well but I didnt really care for it. TLF is a basic up flow reactor. It works ok but I wish the flow were more evenly distributed. I'd like to find something better for GFO. Plus, it is really much much bigger than I need for GFO.

hypertech December 4, 2011 December 4, 2011 I wish they made a nano pint sized one. Even the smallest one is quite large. I don't need much GFO for a 75g.
Der ABT December 4, 2011 December 4, 2011 Avast all the way, if you think its too big, email them and most likely they will make you a custom one...seriously. compared to a TLF the avast one is soo much nicer flow is better, leaks are ALOT less likely, easy to clean, etc etc..
Grav December 4, 2011 December 4, 2011 AM makes a great media reactor for carbon, phos removal type media.... they call it the carboliter. VERY quick to empty, clean and fill new media, for the $ these are and easy win. For bio pellets, next reef is out standing. We are very frinedly with the AVAST guys and they make good stuff, just have not yet seen how the media filters work.
Annap729 December 4, 2011 Author December 4, 2011 (edited) Ok so the smallest one is 75. Can I get away w that one for Gfo carbon and perhaps zeo? Lastly, thoughts on pumps? Edited December 4, 2011 by Annap729
khalid December 4, 2011 December 4, 2011 both of them clog very quickly IME. I would go with an Avast reactor. See here I agree I have used both and don't like them at all. They clog up way too fast and flow through them gets real weak. Definitely go with something like an Avast reactor.
