B216adkins December 2, 2010 December 2, 2010 Hello Friends, today I was looking at the sand beed and I saw something that caught my eye. There was a hairy worm like creature moving along the sand bed! I was so shocked to see it. It amazed me because Im pretty sure I didnt buy a worm and put into the tank. If anybody know the name of the worm please let me know.
Chad December 2, 2010 December 2, 2010 Sounds like it is probably a bristleworm (annelid worm), usually they are excellent scavangers, a valuable member of the clean up crew and present in almost all tanks with live rock. There are those who do not like them, but so long as they are not in plague proportions (you will know it when you see it), they are nothing to worry about IME. Some fish/inverts eat them (coral banded shrimp, various crabs, sand sifting fish usually) and can keep populations in check if you have room.
Coral Hind December 2, 2010 December 2, 2010 I 2nd the bristleworm guess. I would do a google image search to see if it matches. Here is a pic of one I took while on a dive trip.

BowieReefer84 December 2, 2010 December 2, 2010 Sounds cool Brandon. You must have picked up some more live rock. My tank has never had bristleworms... I don't think they're bad, but I am not going out of my way to add any either. How's the tank?
gwweber December 2, 2010 December 2, 2010 LOL id love a bristleworm that looks that good. I found one in a sump out of a tank i sold the other day that was about 5 inches long.
B216adkins December 2, 2010 Author December 2, 2010 The tank is going great! Today when I got home the damsel fish was stuck in the frogspawn coral and died :( but other than that everything is good. The water is clear blue, the mushrooms started growing more mushrooms. I am still looking for some LED's that light up the tank in a dark purple. The same you have on your tank. Sounds cool Brandon. Check the bulbs in your tank. I have a feeling neither one of them is "actinic." You could replace one with an actinic bulb to give you the blue tint, and this would cost a lot less. The led's that come standard in biocubes are very dim lights meant for moon simulation, and finding the ballast would be a waste imo. Not the same glow with power compacts as led's, but I think it would make you happy for now with an actinic bulb. PLUS, the led's I got are melting some of my soft corals including the couple mushrooms I had left..
B216adkins December 3, 2010 Author December 3, 2010 The clownfish is doing great. He loves to eat and play in the coral. Also when he sleep he burry himself into the sand How is the clownfish doing?
B216adkins December 3, 2010 Author December 3, 2010 The tank I have is used and the screws that cover the lights are rusted and striped. So I cant change the lights. My tank has an LED button but the person I brought it didnt have the transformer. Check the bulbs in your tank. I have a feeling neither one of them is "actinic."
