Hi everyone,

I noticed over the last 3 days I lost 3 fish, a zebra bar goby and a mccosker wrasse. The goby wad new, and I figured

he died. The wrasse was healthy, and I couldn't figure out why he would have died. I checked the overflow and found both fish. The goby was

on top and easily removable. The wrasse is hanging out on the bottom between the 2 stand pipes. Is there an easy was to catch the wrasse short of removng a standpipe and draining the overflow? Also, what's the best way to make a guard to prevent this from happening again?

Matt

There is no easy way because of the pipes are in the way. I just remove the stand pipes which on my setup are easy to remove.

If it is a small fish I have even closed the drain pipe valve and filled the tank up to the rim and the fish swam out over the overflow.

You could use plexi, eggcrate, or just about any suitable material to make a lid for the overflow.

Is it an AGA tank? I made an acrylic cover for my old one; free dollars at BRK today. Keeps fish out and algae from growing.

If you put something over the overflow, wouldn't you be worried about the fish jumping onto it and then getting fried under the lights?

I would think the fish would flop around until they fell back into the water. Maybe make something that was slanted so it would roll back into the tank.
