Black live rock?

Good info Jon. I have been thinking of setting up my next system the same way. Instead of live rock I will be using ceramic blocks in the sump.

This is what I've used in the past to make black concrete for FW ponds. I don't know if it's toxic though- the ponds were several hundred thousand gallons and we used the concrete around the coping.

hmmm I may have to do a test batch does anyone have the basic formula for making reef rock?

4 parts cc/sand to one part portland cement.

From most of the reading I've done. You can use sand as a mold. Could you just use black sand for that and keep what sticks?
