What kind of tile can I put in my tank?

Recommended Posts

I have a bare spot in the corner of my tank because I have so much flow in that area (SPS). I would like to put a tile down so you can't see the glass. What can I use that is reef safe? Would I have to cure the tile or could I put it right in the tank after I was it washed off with some RO/DI water?

Depending on how big a piece you need...

Marble tiles would be fine. Probably any ceramic tile - basically anything that isn't cement.

Some of the glazes on tile contain lead.

Instead of a tile, you might consider putting a frag disk there with a montipora on it, and let it grow over your glass. Or a small piece of rock with frag. Or just wait and let coraline algae grow over it.

I'm actually getting interested in the bare bottom idea. Is it possible to vacuum out the crushed coral in an established tank?

Your tank looks great, dont do that to it..
