changed my pick. To Octopus skimmers. Can I get approval for these. Bulk reef supply only sells the extreme version for 280. I could go with marinedepot.com and get the regular ones NW 200 or NWB 200. Opinions or approval?

Can you give us more information on your setup such as size, bioload, and any other forms of filtration?

I'm pretty sure this skimmer is enough for this system, I was curious in Wamas experience with the skimmer performane relative to similar skimmers

Currently: just bouht a 90 gallon tank with 30 gallon sump.

Planned:

125 lbs LR, hard/soft coral reef. 6 tube TEK T5HO. sump will be a chaeto fuge. 1.5-2 inch sand bed.

planned Invertebrates: tiger tail cucumber,2 unspecific starfish, Blue hermits, various snails. pepperment shrimp, cleaner shrimp.

vertebrates: 5-7 Anthias, 1 flame angel, 1 sailfin blenny.

I've run an Octopus (INT-PS-150) since December 2007 on a very similar setup (90 gallon with T5s). I have been really happy with it. It is an earlier model when the company was still a little green around the ears, but it has performed great and I've heard nothing but good things about their products since. Probably comparable to the current 150 needlewheel. I would highly recommend the brand.

Thanks jon, glad to hear it worked out for you. I'm liking this skimmer more and more

I've got an older Octopus NW-150 (2007) that I've been running on my 90 and it's been great. Purchased it because the price was great (around $130ish then), and was hearing some decent things.

I'm currently trying to weigh the benefit/cost ratio of the basic octopus, the recirculating octupus, and the octopus extreme. While theres certainly a price difference, they haven't yet told me the performance differences.
