For no reason that I can think my calcium has recently in my 29G, like in the last month, been dropping below 400 and as low as 340. For the last two years it was always well above 400 without any dosing. I have a small torch and one green plate coral I added many months ago. I do have a lot of coralline but is has not grown much recently. I started dosing 30 ml every other day of API Calcium and it barely keeps the calcium from dropping. The other day I dosed 60 ml and it raised it from 360 to 400. A 50% water change had little effect on calcium. I did a 25% just a few days ago and the cal dropped the next day! I verified my test (API) results against the LFS test and they are accurate.

Anyone had a situation where calcium suddenly became chronically low for no apparent reason?

I checked my mag like a couple weeks back and it was high but it could definitely be checked again. How did you solve your problem? Did you dose mag, dose cal? Water changes?

I used a solution of 4 cups Mg pellets and 2.5 cups epsome salt and filled a 1g container with RO water.

I added 1pt 2x daily to the sump of my 400g system until it corrected my MG to 1340+.

I used about 2g.

I can hook you up with some pellets to try or I'd suggest Kent techM.

Aquarium One in Rockville, MD has a deal on suppliments now but don't know if they have it in stock because of the sale.

Not to hijack...but...

I'm now lightly dosing with DT's CA, ALK, and Mag as I don't have enough g to warrant dry chem. However I know some Mag is better mixture then others- thoughts?

I do not believe low mag is the problem.
