Barebottomcorals_Ed November 5, 2009 November 5, 2009 Im currently doseing B-ionic 2 part in my tank... Was looking into setting up a dosing pump or 2, but I have no clue what i need or how to get started... Do i need a aqua controller? probes? any help or info would be great! Thanks
epleeds November 5, 2009 November 5, 2009 you could use some BRS drew's dosers. connect them via a digital timer and have them come on and off several times a day to keep your parameters in check. I plan on doing this in the near future.
Der ABT November 5, 2009 November 5, 2009 you could use some BRS drew's dosers. connect them via a digital timer and have them come on and off several times a day to keep your parameters in check. I plan on doing this in the near future. Cheapest way ive found though may not be as precise is to get to small pumps, mj 400 or whatever that you can plug tubing into, Reduce the tubing down to air line size and then get one of the screw air flow adjuster to be able to dial back the flow. Get a digital timer that can do 2 plugs from Home Depot or whereever, the shorter the interval it can turn off the pump the better 1 min, 5 min etc. Plug em in and then just adjust the amount of flow for the time you want it to be added in, so that when you turn it on for the set amount of time it pumps the dose you want (can either be for ten min or ten 1 min periods or less if you can get the amount low enough jsut spread out the 1 min intervals. again this isnt the safest way but is very cheap to do.its the DIY method. so literally two pumps, tubing, timer, threaded air adjuster, good to go. well thats what ive done in the past to save spending 80 bucks when i can just use things i have laying around.
rioreef November 5, 2009 November 5, 2009 You could go and buy a new Spectrapure Litermeter III and secondary pump. or For about the same price get a calcium reactor and not worry about dosing for a more long term solution. Luckly, I got my LM III plus two extra pumps from a WAMAS member for a lot less money.

davjbeas November 5, 2009 November 5, 2009 I use the spectrapure liter meter III with a second unit. It is the most reliable pump system. I've tried the aquamedic dosing pumps and I don't think they are made as well as the spectrapure unit. This system doses a selected amount gradually over 24 hours. This keeps parameters steady. Also b-ionic recommends not addind both parts at the same time anyway. Main pump doses 1 part and the slave pump doses the other. Here is a picture. I use airline tubing to deliver the 2 part to the pumps and RO line to deliver to the the sump. I have 1 part going to one side of the sump and the other part going to the other side of the sump. I still have to dose MG 1 day a week. David

CHUBAKAH November 9, 2009 November 9, 2009 LMK how that one works out! Thanks for all the help and advice guys! Got it mounted, and ran some tests on it over the weekend. I need to build some supply tanks now [or order some] and some chemicals to dose. Seems to be a heck of a unit so far, but time will tell.
