Any sugestions ? I tend to avoid Coralife products, after their timers nearly burned down a few houses... What are the dimensions of the tank?? If it's 48" long, you might want more than one 150W bulb? I don't know much about MH's... bob
Coral Hind October 25, 2009 October 25, 2009 I am not a fan of PC bulbs. They just seem to weak to really keep corals healthy. Plus they are slowly being replaced with T5 bulbs so the PC bulbs will be harder to find soon. The T5 bulbs also come in a lot more color variations then the PC do. What size tank do you have and what do you plan to keep in it?
lanman October 25, 2009 October 25, 2009 I am thinking in 55 or 75 g but 48" anyway. are you looking to buy a tank in that range? I am just about to put my 58-gallon up for sale. But it is 36" x 18". I had a 12" deep tank, and didn't like it at all. Not enough options on the aquascaping. bob
epleeds October 25, 2009 October 25, 2009 i would do a 6 or 8 bulb T5 system. you could go as high end as ATI, a little lower is TEK and then you have the Current brand from marine depot. I have the 8 bulb with a single reflector over my 75 gallon and my LPS grows so well and my sps do pretty good. everything is thriving. If you do the 55, the 6 bulb would be good, but with the 18" in depth, I like the 8 bulb.
johnnybv October 25, 2009 October 25, 2009 I would steer clear of both brands you mentioned, you get what you pay for there.....if you are stuck on t-5 sunlight supply TEK systems with geisman bulbs are a great reliable safe option. If you want halide, icecap now makes nice packages with bulb ballast and reflector. john
