To paint back of tank? I think Rik said he used "marine paint" but I can't seem to find anything resembling this name anywhere. Would I have to go to a specialty store to obtain it?

Also, I want to roll it on, not spray...spraying is no longer an option anyways since the tank is now inside my house.

I used latex semigloss housepaint - I had to scrape for ever to get it off with a razor when I was messing with the glass on my tank a few days ago - it does not wear off or peel, just do not get any inside of your tank or you might scratch your glass trying to get it off.

I haven't seen anything that states it can be used for glass yet...

Also, I want to be able to remove it with relative ease so if i get tired of the black i can change it without getting capal tunnel sydrom and a blue face...

What ever was on there worked perfect, scraped right off with a razor.

Go to a sign shop and get a roll of what ever color vinyl you want and just stick it on. This way you will have no mess or smell, and you can peel it right off if you don't like it. Try for something thick like "fat head" wall graphics...like 8 mil or something. Or just see if you can find a vinyl that has a less aggressive adhesive. I know they make stuff that is designed for drywall so it can be removed without tearing the paint off the wall when removed.

See here for suggestios on what to use to paint an Aquarium background...

Doh! Got your mssg @ the beach and never called you back. Marine paint is what iused for the stand notthe tank, looks lime you got good answers - did not spell check, out boozing.

I used the following for my old 45 & some QTs - I did not suggest this at first because it is rather expensive if you have a large tank to paint....

There is a marine paint also sold as a tool handle dip, I think one brand is called Dip It. You will find it in the TOOL section, NOT the paint section, or maybe someplace where boat supplies are sold. This takes several coats of paint and takes a long time to dry between coats. It's like having a thick rubber coating on the back of the tank. It WILL peel off when you want to remove it, and in fact if you are careful you can pull it off all in one large sheet.
