Quantum Aquaria August 14, 2009 August 14, 2009 I ordered 20 of these plastic coated magnets and they work great. Really strong on my 20 long frag tank and holds my egg crate up really well. On my 120, I've got 3/8 inch thick glass and the heavier items, I use 2 magnets on the outside and the lighter ones 1 magnet. Price drops in increments of 10, 25, 50, etc. per magnet, but to able to stick my corals to the glass with epoxy for a $1.50 and hold up a frag rack for $4.50 (6 magnets, 3 on the inside and 3 on the outside of the tank), I think I made out. Gonna test this with glueing my maxijets to the magnets since the suction cups on the maxijets really suck. I may get some more just to have so this might turn out to be a future group buy. http://www.kjmagnetics.com/proddetail.asp?prod=D84PC%2DBLK links to pics of the magnet setup: http://picasaweb.google.com/TRANSD/Magnets...O2K4dj_wY3Z2AE#
tygger August 14, 2009 August 14, 2009 Let us know how it goes with trying to glue the maxi jets. I used the cheap penntax (sp?) magnetic algae cleaners that cost about $5 and they seem to be ok.
Stu August 20, 2009 August 20, 2009 I've also used these for a DIY egg crate frag rack and frag mags. They work great. Let me know if you order some more. I'm in the market for some.
dschflier August 20, 2009 August 20, 2009 Stu, I just bought 50. If you want some after shipping it comes to about .90 per magnet. You are welcome to pick some up if you would like. I just ordered them. Good find tekken. Thanks
Quantum Aquaria August 20, 2009 Author August 20, 2009 Good to hear... i think this absolutely works great and if i could, i'd be putting everything on magnets... especially my damsel that keeps chasing my hawkfish around planning to order some more this upcoming Monday... I'll post in the Group Buy Section.

Quantum Aquaria August 25, 2009 Author August 25, 2009 so I was doing a little cleaning the other day and some minor aquascaping. The side of the tank had algae and I had to move the corals being held by the magnets around to clean the glass... so i thought, if it can stick to glass, what about plastic\acrylic, why not try to use the empty space I had in the back of the tank and the overflows... so here you go... now, I can clean my tank and at the same time get a nice view of the corals.. for those of you whom were able to obtain some from dschflier, then give this a try... it looks very nice... if not, then I'm gonna order some magnets this week to put some more corals on the overflow :-). It's posted in the Group Buy section for those interested in getting some of the magnets.
dschflier August 25, 2009 August 25, 2009 I got 50 and will be happy to sell about 35. .90 per magnet. They stick on my 210 but I am not sure how well they will stick with a frag on it. I am going to try within the next 2 days. I think any glass thinner then the 210 would hold very well and they may be fine for my tank I just am not sure yet.

I love the way they will plate out in a cup shape from the overflow.

Stu August 27, 2009 August 27, 2009 So is that the secret to get caps to plate in multiple layers? Mine tend to grow out into a flat large single plate. For me, it's just been more of a matter of time. In my experience, they don't start the layered cupping until they get pretty big. Until then, they just grow out in a single plate like you said. I'm sure current has something to do with it too.
