wfoxfox June 11, 2009 June 11, 2009 I went on the Liveaquaria.com site to look for a picture/price of a Mag. foxface. While I was there. I registered to be notified when they had one. The question is: what are the good, bad and the ugly facts on receiving a fish in a box from FedEx????????? Thanks Part of the e:mail notification is below........... Marine Fish | Freshwater Fish | Corals | Inverts | Live Rock | Freshwater Plants | Tank Cleaners | Supplies Dear Wayne, We have received a limited quantity of the following species you were interested in ordering. SW - Magnificent Foxface - Medium These items are available on a first-come, first-serve basis, and quantities may be limited. Please don't delay if you hope to add this aquatic life to your aquarium or pond. If you put a species into your cart, but do not check out right away, other "In-Stock Alert" recipients may purchase the quantity we received and you will not be able to order it at this time.
zygote2k June 11, 2009 June 11, 2009 you'll want to get delivery ASAP and pick up immediately after arrival. You'll also need to do a slow drip acclimation to bring it up to your water parameters. It'll probably get ick too. QT if possible, otherwise into the DT. If your water chemistry is fine and your other fish are healthy, everything should go as planned.
ctenophore June 11, 2009 June 11, 2009 DFS/Divers Den is usually pretty good about health of fish. I would use the same judgment regarding quarantine as any fish from a local store though.
trockafella June 11, 2009 June 11, 2009 Spend the extra money and ask your LFS to order it for you.. Never had good luck with ordering fish.. Never had any problems with corals or inverts, just fish..
Sikryd June 11, 2009 June 11, 2009 Spend the extra money and ask your LFS to order it for you.. Never had good luck with ordering fish.. Never had any problems with corals or inverts, just fish.. +1 Not to mention Liveaquaria is about 3x more than I have paid for any of my fish....
wfoxfox June 11, 2009 Author June 11, 2009 Thanks for all the great info. I did ask Sean about getting me one :-) He said they are hard to come by and to jump on one if I found it. He may have meant in a LFS vice 'mail order' though. I do not have a QT nor have I ever dipped any fish or corals. I have been lucky I guess. Buying from great WAMAS folks and LFS that Q has been my protection so far. I guess I should have a 10 gallon hanging around to use as a QT. Doug planted the darn idea to get a Mag. foxface in my head :-)
