Jon Lazar May 23, 2009 May 23, 2009 Nice framing and depth of field to bring the viewer's attention to the coral and not on the background. Also, your colors look better than what you normally get with a point-and-shoot...did your camera do that automatically, or did you have to adjust the camera's white balance? If you look closely you'll notice that the frag is a little out of focus. Try shooting at a shorter exposure if you can, but the camera aperature may not open wide enough to allow that. Use a tripod if you have one, or carefully brace the camera and your hands against the tank to eliminate camera shake. Point and shoot cameras sometimes have problems focusing through the tank, so you may get better results by using manual focus. I also always turn off my pumps when taking tank photos. An sps like your frag in this picture won't move, but the polyps will, and they can look blurry. Keep shooting! Jon
motti May 23, 2009 Author May 23, 2009 (edited) i think i used flash for both pictures, and tripod as well... i had to fix up the color in photoshop a bit after taking the picture of the coral to adjust the white balance. i don't remember the exact settings i used for the first one, but for the fish i used f2.8 1/90 exposure with manual focus i believe i used the tripod for both of them. i will order a new macro filter next week or so so i could mess around with it a little more. for some reason the demsel fish isn't showing up anymore, so i re uploaded it Edited May 23, 2009 by motti
