Jan May 11, 2009 May 11, 2009 (edited) I've seen some really nice home made set ups for collecting and storing RO/DI water and water with salt mix. Now I'm ready to do the same. I need suggestions on what to use and how to set it up. My RO/DI unit is attached to the sink in my basement. I have room for storage recepticles. Please send me pictures and tell me where you purchased the recepticles and how you modified them. Thank you. Edited May 11, 2009 by Jan
zygote2k May 11, 2009 May 11, 2009 Simple set-up. 30 gallon Brute container. R/O float valve kit. Drill hole near top side of brute, connect output of R/O to float valve kit attached to side of brute. Drill lid to fit tubing size of whatever you like to accomodate your mixing pump. You provide the pictures.
Pat_13 May 11, 2009 May 11, 2009 I use the pepsi barrels, just drill a hole for a float valve and a hole in the top for access.

reefmontalvo May 11, 2009 May 11, 2009 I keep two 5gallon buckets. The first is equiped with a float valve the other I keep saltwater tumbling with a mag 5 pump. I age my saltwater for about a week and the pump keeps the water warm. I use the 5gallon bucket of RO water as a means of filling the freshwater reserve on the auto top off.
JMsAquarium May 11, 2009 May 11, 2009 Hi Jan, I use two Brute trash cans from Rubbermaid. They are available at Home Depot and the likes in 10, 20, 32 gallons and more. I have them ad different heights so I can empty one into the other without having to use a pump. The top can collects the RODI ans the line from the RODI unit is connected to a Float valve so it won't overflow when filled. The bottom can is used to mix water and salt.
