bamainva March 22, 2009 Share March 22, 2009 Was looking for something a little bigger and within the limits given by my other half. I found a 65g tank/stand and homemade canopy, along with a 30g sump/protein skimmer/phosban reactor, really everything that I needed besides the water. I decided to make the purchase and am looking forward to watching the tank mature. The canopy had 2X250w MH and 2 VHO actinics in it and since I am wanting to venture into the SPS world, I thought this would be a nice set up. I need to look into how to get these pictures to really show the colors off...but it will do for now. Below are some pics of the beginning...starting to put some water in the tank. Picked up some base rock and a piece of live rock, then waited and waited...Finally after 3 weeks....something to look at...yes the diatom bloom Started adding some corals on 3/15 and everything moved from me 29 on 3/17 and here is where we are today.... This is my daughters favorite fish A purchase from BRK on 3/21 Thanks for looking Mike

I am going to be getting a doser soon, so it should help with things. Mike
bamainva April 12, 2009 Author Share April 12, 2009 It has been a few weeks and have made some changes, one of the biggest was adding a kalk stirrer. Everything seems to be doing well. The colors don't come out great but below are a few pics taken today. FTS.... A couple of the recent fish purchases.... Neon Goby that I have had for a year now... Blue Tort (true color doesn't show up)... Mike
bamainva April 22, 2009 Author Share April 22, 2009 Still have been to lazy to get the 30g sump from under my tank, but I went ahead and put a hole in the wall. What I added on the other side of the wall... 30g sump 20g Water reservoir (top off) 15g will be used as a refugium I still need to straighten some of the wires up, but it has become so much easier to do maintenance. Kalk Stirrer connected to top off system... Pic of soon to be refugium.... found the spotlight sitting in the garage. The refugium light I was going to run while the moonlights are on in the main tank. Thanks Mike

bamainva April 22, 2009 Author Share April 22, 2009 Wow what is that fish... your daughters favorite... I got it about 8 months ago at Petco and they had it labeled as a carpenter wrasse. He occasionally like to go back and forth in front of the glass and flare up.
DJBoy98 April 22, 2009 Share April 22, 2009 Where did you get those Spa hoses with connectors? Do they make them to fit 3/4 or 1" PVC?
bamainva April 22, 2009 Author Share April 22, 2009 Where did you get those Spa hoses with connectors? Do they make them to fit 3/4 or 1" PVC? They came with the sump that I bought (had a 6' and 4' hose). I just saw them in some magazine I was looking at...I want to say Dr. Foster and Smith. I will have to check later today. I have them on 1" PVC.

bamainva May 28, 2009 Author Share May 28, 2009 Well my daughter once again won. She doesn't have to twist my arm to hard... :-). She wanted me to take a pic and share them. She named one Angie Brooke (front one) and my son named the other one Robinson Robert (back one..(i have no clue where the first names are from, they both used their middle names)) They were eating within 5 minutes of putting them in the tank.
