fosterspike February 26, 2009 February 26, 2009 i was looking at live aquaria for the group buy and i saw horseshoe crabs for sale. it says they are reef safe until they get big. Im kind of worried if i get them they might hurt some fish or inverts. they look cool though and help stirr up the sand.
DDiver February 26, 2009 February 26, 2009 I would advise against it...u can get other critters or fish that will stir up the sand if that's what u are looking for..
fosterspike February 26, 2009 Author February 26, 2009 i probably wont buy it but i thought they would be interesting
zygote2k February 26, 2009 February 26, 2009 They usually starve to death in an aquarium. They are famous for bulldozing things too.
tischdog32 February 26, 2009 February 26, 2009 I had one as my very first tank inhabitant before I picked up any corals and he was really cool, darting around much like a six line, and he certainly stirred up the sand a pretty decent ammount, but as guys stated before, I could never get him to eat either by direct feeding or leaving food around for him, and he ended up dieing (im assuming by starvation) after about two or three months in the tank ...If you can get them to eat, they are incredibly interesting creatures, though you have to keep a low flow in the tank because they cant really right themselves very well if they get blown over onto their backs ... jsut fyi
spankythepyro February 26, 2009 February 26, 2009 they need a sandbed with a big footprint, bulldoze as said, and they get to grow big!!!!
