st9z April 7, 2009 April 7, 2009 It is looking very nice in there I just received my Tek lights in yesterday and was wondering if you think its a bad idea to just put it directly on top of the tank. BTW the fixture is awesome I have never seen my corals pop with colors!

BTW the fixture is awesome I have never seen my corals pop with colors! I have noticed my tek light puts off a little heat. Not as much as the Mh's did, but still enough that I wouldn't want it that close to the water. Did yours come with legs? Want to get rid of them? =) Post some pics of yours Niki! -Dave Edited April 7, 2009 by audible
El Camaron April 7, 2009 Author April 7, 2009 Hey Niki, as long as you have the splash guard you should be ok untill you can hang it but dont keep it there too long. Okie dokie, I'll have to send Sean my measurements then, to create a tree so I can hang the unit. Oy I was hoping to go the cheap route
st9z April 10, 2009 April 10, 2009 Camaron, How do take pictures with the T5 lights? All my pictures are coming out terrible and not showing the real colors of the colors. I've heard that T5 lighting tank are a pain to take picture of, didnt think it would be this bad with my SLR.
El Camaron April 10, 2009 Author April 10, 2009 Niki, are you using a tripod? if not i would suggest getting one, i got a cheap 20 dollar one at ritz and works really good. Also as far as settings go use manual settings, play with the iso, normally when shotting bottom of the tank i need a higher iso and when shotting closer to the light lower iso, also the esposure, you may need to set a longer exposure or lower, i for got my current settings but when i get home i cam post them up for you. What camera are you using? On a cool note, i just figured out that a coral sold to me as a miamy hurricane is actually an emerald mummy eye . its getting a nice emerald color around the eyes and blueish around the edge.
st9z April 29, 2009 April 29, 2009 Camaron, have you experience any fish jumping out of you tank problem?
El Camaron April 29, 2009 Author April 29, 2009 Yes unfortunately i have had a few jumpers, mainly my clown fish were the jumpers, i managed to save them once but i was not around the second time and one yasha goby . All my other fish are doing fine with out a top. Did your fish jump out?

All my other fish are doing fine with out a top. Did your fish jump out? Yea too many for my liking as well. I've never had this problem with my 90 gallon so I am kinda shock. So far 1 picasso, 1 orange blenny, and 1 snowcasso I am thinking of buying an egg crate to cover the tank but I just think it would look soo ugly

El Camaron April 30, 2009 Author April 30, 2009 Im not sure which ones they are jan but they are really nice. I got them from blaze a few months back and they have not stoped growing since. same with some rose nebulas that are next to them, that must be the sweet spot in my tank lol.
