flowerseller October 11, 2008 Share October 11, 2008 Are you talking lid with no vent holes, I suspect it could make a diffrence This correct. If you do not have some form of a vent whether it's a vent vent, drain that is not clogged or even no lid it can cause back pressure and have a negative effect of bubbles. Mine, a high volume down draft skimmer, has a drain tube that flows into a collection container ( milk jug ) Once the drain tube is under water from collection, it shuts bubble production down and then it's not skimming much. geofloors October 12, 2008 Share October 12, 2008 It depends, if you run a beckett type skimmer with an auto shut off collection container then the lid needs to be air tight for the auto shut off to work. Depends on the skimmer, but generally speaking if the air is restricted on the way out then it will affect performance. George
