zygote2k October 10, 2008 October 10, 2008 I bought a Red Sea Master test kit and am wondering if it is very accurate. I would like to know if anyone has experience with these kits/tests and what other types of test kits are accurate. I used to use LaMotte back in the day, and I thought they were fairly accurate...
jnguyen4007 October 10, 2008 October 10, 2008 I user salifert and I think a fairly large number of ppl on this group use salifert as well. I find their test kit a bit simpler to use than some of the other ones that I used in the past.
lhcorals October 11, 2008 October 11, 2008 I was using a instant ocean alk. test and was getting a reading of 8. i changed to Salifert and now getting a reading around 10. 2 point difference between the two every time.
jamal October 11, 2008 October 11, 2008 like most things in this hobby cheaper ends up costing you in another way. salifert, elos, lamotte, and tropic marin are good ones. i had the api nitrate kit and it wouldnt read lower than 30ppm. i didnt realize it until another member told me that her kit had been giving false readings. it turns out that my trates were low and the api kit was wrong. go figure.
