yauger September 2, 2008 September 2, 2008 http://washingtondc.craigslist.org/nva/for/822283814.html good looking tank, but whats up with all those loc-line hoses on the water surface? man this guy went out of his way to buy great hardware but designs his main display without class. would be interested in some of his hardware if he parts out. I sent him a email lets see what happens...
ctenophore September 2, 2008 September 2, 2008 Looks like those robot sentry things from the Matrix are invading that reef tank.
Amuze September 2, 2008 September 2, 2008 (edited) Less than a year old and cost over $12,000... while working for MS? Nice tank though. Except for all the returns. I wonder if that was to cut back on powerheads? Edited September 2, 2008 by audible

tonkadawg September 2, 2008 September 2, 2008 it's almost like he was afraid to drill the tank for his CL returns
fishcam September 2, 2008 September 2, 2008 I would rather have powerheads in my display instead of that mess of loc-line noodle patch. That thar feller is HUGE. I wonder what the monthly cost would be in goods alone... my 55 runs about $37. Annual Salt/lights/RODI stuff/BRK chemicals.... not to mention power consumption.
MLazar September 2, 2008 September 2, 2008 (edited) James, I really appreciate your sharing this find, Jon and I are always on the hunt for our "dream" tank, which will hopefully be set up after the next move in 2 years. We're hoping for a 300, and although the larger size of this tank is appealing, the dimensions don't work for us. If we find our amazing dream tank, our plan is to store it in the basement of this house until the move after Kathryn graduates. Thanks for sharing. Maureen Edited September 2, 2008 by MLazar

Maureen I had a chance to see my "dream" tank when I saw some of the Marineland Deep Dimensions tanks at ThatPetPlace. Very very nice tanks. Good craftsmanship too. Beveled edges, black silicone, and the stands and canopies were pretty nice too. The stands were a little short, but I understand now that there are different grades of stands and canopies, so we'll see. One idea was to just get the tank and hope for ybenormal to build me a stand, and canopy if its not an in-wall tank. Probably won't be in-wall though, since I think one of the great things about a 3' deep tank is that you should be able to view from all three sides. If you ever get a chance to see a display of these tanks, you'll see what I mean. Gotta have the house to put it in first though

Gotta have the house to put it in first though James, if we get a 3' deep tank we're talking about putting it in the wall, but having 18 - 24" protrude into the room so you can see in the sides. There would be recessed bookshelves/storage cabinets on either side and the cabinetry would follow the lines of the tank into the room, kind of like a bump out or bay window. I saw a picture of this once. The fish room would be behind and there'd be access from the front too, but it would be hidden in the cabinetry. You should start a thread ........"what is your dream tank"!
extreme_tooth_decay September 2, 2008 September 2, 2008 The loc-line returns don't bother me at all. In fact, I like the flexibility they offer. Nice thing is, you can always not use them.
