I am considering upgrading to a Oceanic Ultimate or Tech series reef ready tank, about 100 Gal.

Their web site seem to suggest that all these tanks have a dark backing on one of the tank walls, instead of being clear on all 4 sides.

Does anyone know if I can get one of these tanks with all 4 walls being clear glass ?

Is it worth the extra big bucks to get an Oceanic ?

Thanks

Mike

I think the big draw about the Tech tanks is that they use Starfire glass. I've seen the starfire and I do think its worth the money.

I know Mr. Coral was offering Oceanic tanks at cost, you might want to check to see if they are still running that deal.

I think both Ultimate and Tech have the low iron glass, the major difference would be the tech is the open top and ultimate's have cross braces. And the silver vs black/brown or whatever. Just give them a call since their website isn't very clear.

As far as the worthwhileness of the low iron glass, you can really see a difference on thicker tanks... for example, check out a racket ball court at the gym somewhere and note the color differences between the glass door and the open air. The door will look somewhat dimmer and less colorful.

I'd say if you can get one for cost, then go for it... I think the sizes you'd have to choose from would be the 90g and the 120g (all ft long... one is 18 in deep, the other 24, and I think they're both 22, or 24 in tall). Again give them a ring, and then go with one of the (at least two I think) suppliers who will sell you them at cost.

Mr. Coral will work with you on the deal (at cost). If you get the tech, I think that you're limited in the size, but you can always get the Ultimate series that also comes with the Starphire glass. Good luck in your choice though. :)
