The Kerrnel April 22, 2008 April 22, 2008 Howdy! Just thought I'd introduce myself.... I'm a friend of bamainva, a member here. I'm a spankin' new WAMAS member, and I guess a fairly new saltwater hobbyist. I started a 10g nano back in January which has had its ups and downs, but seems to be faring well for a newb. Nothing much to say about it...just a 10g tank with a Rio nano skimmer, an AquaClear filter, couple of 20g+ PH's, and an assortment of softies (zoos, shrooms, gsp, couple of different xenias, a mussa, an acan, and some leather. All frags, so try not to have a heart attack that all that fit in a 10g tank! I've got a 55g sitting in my study that I'm getting set to start preparing for use now that I think I know what I'm doing. Will be looking for parts for it on here over the next while, so you may see me in the WTB forums. Anyway, thought I'd just say hello.

The Kerrnel April 25, 2008 Author April 25, 2008 Here's a tank shot... My real digital camera was missing its memory card, so had to resort to my cell phone which isn't the best... Hopefully will get a better tank shot once I find my memory card. Some xenias on the left with Nemo on guard, in back just to the right of them you can't make out the acan frag or the candy cane. In front on bottom left, palys and zoos...this photo doesn't do justice...colonies thriving behind them. Bottom middle the shiny white blob is the stone that has a finger leather frag on it that you can't make out. On the larger rock an inch to the right are some GSP's that have seen better days but are hopefully rebounding. On top a leather...you can imagine what I call it... Right beside it in the glare is a monti frag that's about twice or three times the size as when I bought it in Jan...kinda happy with that considering it's an SPS in a PC nano. Immediately to the right of that that you can't make out is another frag of finger leather. In the middle is my other fishie, a blue damsel. They seem to get along together. To its right and just below is a mussa frag that really hasn't done anything since I got it except attract a small bubble of algae. It's just there. Directly below that on the sand bed, just behind the tie wrap are some mushrooms. The brown smudge on top/behind the big rock on the right is a colony of clove polyps in the back, and toward the front, attached to the rock is a kenya tree that has been yelling at me for a water change. And lastly, on the sand bed all the way to the right, wedged under the big rock, is another xenia, pompom maybe. And the sexy turkey baster is hamming it up prominently in front of the tank. Looking forward to getting the 55g going, running out of real estate. Bought a couple of new coral frags last night...some orange/blue zoos that are now living in the socket in the rock directly in the middle of the photo, and some more paly/zoos that looked bluish at BRK but appear orange/pink under my lighting for some reason. They live on a disk glued almost directly underneath the orange/blue zoos. Tank is 10g, have a MaxiJet 600 and AquaClear 20 for water movement, a Rio Nano to skim, and a Whisper 20 for additional filtration. Lighting is Coralife 65W 50/50 PC. Generally feed using Cyclopeeze, PhytoGreen, and Arcti Pods. Temp is 78F, 15 Nitrate on its way down, 0 Nitrite, 8.0ish Ph, 1.026. Only problem with the reef hobby is it diverts funds from my golf hobby...

tbittner April 27, 2008 April 27, 2008 Welcome to WAMAS, Kerrnel! Great to have you join us. Your tank looks spectacular! I've seen some nanos that take your breath away. You'll probably find that the 55 is easier to maintain. A larger water volume does that for you.
