discretekarma March 23, 2008 March 23, 2008 I wanted to put a post on here to thank (Justin) Ctenophore for all the time and work you put in at my house today. I also wanted to thank Brian Ward for coming by to help as well. Here are some pictures of the revamping of my 180. You can't see the great work in these pictures but you can see the hard work that went in to it. I'll post some more pictures once the water settles.
jason the filter freak March 23, 2008 March 23, 2008 Looks good, Glad to see you decided to stick with it. I still think you should pick up a lion fihs. Oh. and sorry I couldn't make it today.
discretekarma March 23, 2008 Author March 23, 2008 What else can I get if I have a Lion Fish? I wanted to have Triggers, an Angel, an Eel, and a Grouper. Would that still be possible with a Lion Fish?
ErikS March 23, 2008 March 23, 2008 What else can I get if I have a Lion Fish? I wanted to have Triggers, an Angel, an Eel, and a Grouper. Would that still be possible with a Lion Fish? Rule of thumb - anything larger than the length of the lion fish (anything that won't fit in it's mouth)
lletellier March 23, 2008 March 23, 2008 glad to see you decided to stick with it scott, I actually had a heater blow up in my water change bucket while I was in the bahamas last week. Luckily I have a submersible one on my tank. It left a nasty battery smell in the bucket and I ended up throwing it away since I didn't want it to contaminate my water. No more glass heaters anyone!
treesprite March 23, 2008 March 23, 2008 I also am very glad you decided to stay in. I'll boost your thanks to Justin and Brian for helping you.
discretekarma March 23, 2008 Author March 23, 2008 (edited) Here are a few more now that the water has cleared. I wish I could take good pictures. These pictures don't do anything justice. Edited March 23, 2008 by discretekarma
steveoutlaw March 23, 2008 March 23, 2008 Dude - The top rock on the left stack keeps sticking out of the water. Why don't you let me hold it in my tank for you for a couple of years until your tank gets stable!! Seriously, the tank is looking great. Can't wait to see what you put in there. Keep the pics coming.
ctenophore March 24, 2008 March 24, 2008 Wow, that cleared up fast. Looks great! I think a few small rocks stuck or putty'ed in the joints between the big ones will give it a more finished appearance. What was the water temp once all the water was pumped back in? All the corals look happy so it couldn't have been too low. Won't triggers bite the tips off a lionfish's fins? Angels will too, I've heard. Anyway, glad to help out. I will try to catch the wrasse this week and will give you a call if/when that happens. Justin
Brian Ward March 24, 2008 March 24, 2008 yea, lionfish don't really do well with the other fish you want to keep. the lion will get stressed and die. it looks good. sorry i couldnt help more, just had too much stuff going on that day. LMK if you need anything else.
discretekarma March 24, 2008 Author March 24, 2008 The water temp was in the 60's when I pumped it back in so I stuck a heater and the lights on and it came up pretty fast. I waited until later in the evening to put the corals back in.
