albatross666 January 13, 2008 January 13, 2008 Hi I often get puffs of air from the output of my main 2 powerheads. one is sumberged 1-2 inhces below the water and the other is 3 inches below. The powerheads are not fancy, basic aquaclear 402 and aquaclear 50. Where would the air be coming from? Thanks
gmubeach January 13, 2008 January 13, 2008 Do you have a leak in the hose? or is your protien skimmer near the intake. I have had my protien skimmer put in microbubbles but its tiny anyway I hope its doing well and you can figure out whats up!
flowerseller January 13, 2008 January 13, 2008 The PH's could be causing a vortex (tornado type effect) periodically and drawing in a burst of air.
zotzer January 13, 2008 January 13, 2008 I find (at least with my koralias) that they can take in micro bubbles that accumulate until the PH eventually "burbs". Tracy
treesprite January 13, 2008 January 13, 2008 Maybe having foam covers over the intakes would keep it from happening?
dhoch January 13, 2008 January 13, 2008 THere is air in your water it get's trapped to the plastic inside the powerhead. The air collects more air till the bubble is big enough that it can't hold on anymore and then it gets dislodged. Dave
