Bob October 27, 2007 October 27, 2007 I am going to NYC to work over Thanksgiving and have Friday through Sunday free. I was wondering if anyone has any recommendations for any super good fish stores? Also, is the NY Aquarium in Brooklyn (Coney Island) worth the visit? I would hate to just hang out in the Village and become hopelessly drunk every night. LOL
dschflier October 28, 2007 October 28, 2007 The Ny aquarium is a good aquarium but I wouldn't say great. My dad and I used to go at least once a year even when I lived down here. At the time I was into African cichlids and they have a large Lake Malawi display that we both always wanted to see. Further out on the Island is; Atlantis Marine world aquarium http://www.atlantismarineworld.com/exhibit-indoor.html We have not been there yet but I really want to go. If you decide to go let me know what you think. It looks like a pretty interesting place.

dschflier October 28, 2007 October 28, 2007 Yeah I would be really curious of what you think if you go. I will go with my father next time I am up that way. I think it is a bit far out on LI. Just a little heads up if you head out that way
yagerboy October 28, 2007 October 28, 2007 Stay in the Village. The Village ROCKS...love the village! BTW- Yorkers dont know reefs!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
lancer99 October 28, 2007 October 28, 2007 yagerboy is partially correct...the Village rocks! Had some hopelessly drunken fun experiences there myself. But the only reason New Yawkers don't know reefs is that they can't fit even a 29G tank into their shoebox-sized apartments, never mind the $4000 a month rent. Brooklyn, on the other hand..... -R
dbartco October 28, 2007 October 28, 2007 I'd second Atlantis. Great owner, with a 20k gallon reef. I have never seen a tank that actually supports 4 orange spotted filefish until I saw that one. He also donated frags to our club raffle last winter.
